Riksfärdtjänsten needed a website redesign that complied with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, aligning with the latest EU accessibility legislation. As a service primarily catering to individuals with disabilities, accessibility was a top priority. However, their existing website was outdated, difficult to navigate, and failed to meet key accessibility requirements.
Problem
The old website presented several challenges:
Lack of compatibility with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other assistive tools.
Broken links and an outdated design that hindered usability.
Content that wasn’t structured to effectively address the most common user questions.
These issues made it difficult for users to access important information and for Riksfärdtjänsten to maintain a professional, inclusive digital presence.
Outcome
We took a user-centered approach by conducting one-on-one interviews with employees to ensure content accuracy and address common user inquiries. This informed the content strategy, leading to improved structure and clarity.
From there, we developed a high-fidelity prototype of the new website, iterating based on accessibility and usability testing. The final design was handed off to the development company, fully optimizing it for screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other assistive technologies.
The result is a modern, accessible, and user-friendly website that reflects Riksfärdtjänsten’s mission while ensuring all users, regardless of ability, can easily navigate and find essential information.
